Are you at a threshold? A transition? A place where everything feels like it's shifting? Facing an illness? Menopause? You're lost. You're bone tired. You take care of everyone but yourself. The body in the mirror is that of a stranger. Your brain is hiding in fog.
Everyone expects you to carry on as usual but you are wondering why they chew so loudly. And you just can't anymore. You're told to medicate it, get over it, accept it as aging.
It's not your fault. This is how you find your way back.
"Call your grandmothers. Tend your fires. Remember how to be human."
Grandmother Fires is gathered around the fires that burn in your cells—literally, your mitochondria, with their mtDNA inherited through an unbroken maternal line for thousands of years. This is biology. This is life. When those fires burn bright and clean, you thrive. When they're extinguished or struggling, nothing works right...your energy crashes, your mood destabilizes, illness takes hold. Longevity fades. It's about the ancestral wisdom that grandmothers embedded in lifeways... what kept humans alive and thriving before we disconnected from it.It's about menopause as initiation, not decline. Illness as signal, not failure. Exhaustion as an invitation to tend yourself. And it's about reclaiming the power and knowledge of elder women in a culture that's tried to make them invisible.Grandmother Fires weaves together ancestral wisdom, mitochondrial science, traditional healing practices, and the practical work of tending to your own fire. Whether you understand it spiritually, scientifically, or simply through your own experience... the practices are the same, and they work.
Ancestrally Rooted
The practices that keep mitochondria healthy (real food, movement, community, rest, ritual) are the same practices that sustained human survival for millennia. This isn't new. Grandmothers have always known. Their wisdom and stories kept people alive. They shared teachings that ensured survival, thriving, and the transmission of knowledge across generations. "Don't eat the poisonous mushrooms".
Energetically Real
Whether you understand it as biochemistry, spiritual threads, or life force... the result is the same. Tend your fires and you feel more alive. Neglect them and you smolder or burn out. That's not metaphor. That's lived experience.
You carry your grandmother's fire. It matters.
Online Fire Circles
Small online gatherings for women looking around at their lives thinking, "I hate everything and I don't know who I am anymore."
We won't be counting macros or building a workout plan. Instead, we'll treat menopause (or whatever life upheaval you're in) as an initiation, not a malfunction.
I'll tell you stories... from grandmothers, from the forest, from the little power plants in your cells... and help you see where you are in the larger pattern.
You'll leave with a different way of understanding what's happening to you, a clearer sense of the role your body is trying to move you into, and one or two simple ways to tend your own fire in the weeks ahead.
Sometimes we talk about safely burning down what we don't need: old identities, relationships that have run their course, the culture's expectations of who you're supposed to be. Sometimes a controlled blaze makes space for something else...for you to be you again. Approximately 90 minutes. Minimum donation $25.

I gather people to talk about what matters: ancestral wisdom, navigating big life upheavals (including menopause), reclaiming grandmother power, and how being healthy and strong is an act of rebellion. The same things we explore online—burning down what no longer fits, tending your own fire, remembering who you are—can also happen in person, around an actual fire or in a room.
For groups, organizations, or communities interested in this work.
Please email any inquiries. Donation varies.Writing
I write about what happens when we disconnect from what sustains us... and how to find our way back. When we forget that we're humans.
Menopause as initiation. Ancestral inheritance. The grandmother fires that burn in your cells. What it means to be a woman who refuses to disappear.
Stories that help you see yourself and your life differently.

Who I Am
I am a traditional healer, trained from childhood. A seer by birth and ancestry. A lifelong bear dreamer... one who dreams with bears and learns from them. A grandmother of four.
My own lineage traces back to Western Hunter-Gatherer ancestry...and to a woman a thousand years ago with a bear tooth necklace, buried in ochre. Her fires... her spark... still ignites me today.
I grew up in the deep forests of western Washington. The forest is still my sanctuary, my teacher, my most steadfast companion.
I'm an anthropologist by education, a healer by practice, an artist by heart. I live by reading the signs nature gives me and through deep intuition. I trust traditional ways of knowing above all else... and often, they align perfectly with what peer-reviewed research shows us.
I work through story, ritual, and spiritual understanding...grounded in how our bodies/minds are actually designed to thrive.
I've spent my whole life learning how to translate between worlds... science and spirit, body and soul, what's been passed down and what needs to be remembered while we still can.
